Our mission

The mission of the American Historical Conservation Alliance is to preserve and protect historic sites across the United States, safeguard the stories they hold, and promote public education and engagement with the nation’s heritage.

Our work includes the conservation of not only cultural and architectural landmarks, but also the archaeological, geological, and paleontological features that contribute to a fuller understanding of America’s past.

Through advocacy, research, and community involvement, we strive to ensure that the physical, natural, and cultural landscapes of American history are not lost to time, neglect, or development.

Our efforts

We collaborate with communities, champion preservation policies, and protect historic, archaeological, geological, and paleontological sites to safeguard America’s heritage for future generations.

Our history

The American Historical Conservation Alliance was founded in 2025 in response to the growing threat of development, neglect, and erasure facing many of America’s historic and scientifically significant sites. Recognizing that these places, whether historical, archaeological, geological, or paleontological, hold stories essential to our national identity, the organization was created to promote the protection, education, and responsible stewardship of America’s rich heritage.

From its earliest efforts, the American Historical Conservation Alliance has worked to unite communities, historians, scientists, and preservation advocates around a common goal: to ensure that future generations can access and learn from the places and discoveries that shaped the past. Whether through grassroots initiatives, public education campaigns, or legal advocacy, the organization is committed to preserving structures and sites and the memories, knowledge, and meaning they carry.

Today, the Alliance continues its mission to protect vulnerable locations of historical, archaeological, geological, and paleontological importance, empower local voices, and foster a nationwide appreciation for history and science’s role in our everyday lives.
